New York (USA), May 5<\/strong>:\u00a0Nachiket Joshi, Director at Global Vision India Foundation, was invited as\u00a0an intervention speaker by the United Nations to participate in the 8th Annual Multi-Stakeholder\u00a0Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the SDGs (STI Forum) held in United Nations\u00a0Headquarters, New York, USA from May 02- 05, 2023. During the forum, Mr Joshi delivered a speech\u00a0on ‘The importance of strengthening trust in science and technology for accelerating the recovery\u00a0from\u00a0the\u00a0coronavirus disease\u00a0(COVID-19)’,\u00a0on\u00a0May\u00a003,\u00a02023.<\/p>\n

As part of his speech, Mr. Joshi highlighted the key steps taken by India under the leadership of\u00a0honourable\u00a0Prime\u00a0Minister\u00a0Shri\u00a0Narendra\u00a0Modi\u00a0to\u00a0overcome\u00a0the\u00a0challenges\u00a0and\u00a0build\u00a0trust\u00a0in\u00a0science and technology. Further, He also emphasised the need for a multi-stakeholder approach to\u00a0ensure that the public has access to reliable and accurate information about the pandemic and its\u00a0impact.<\/p>\n

\u201cA comprehensive science communication strategy was built to promote public understanding and\u00a0trust in science and technology through various media and social media networks. \u201cMann Ki Baat\u201d, a\u00a0platform to facilitate a direct connection between the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the\u00a0people of republic India which recently completed its 100th episode and was broadcasted live in the\u00a0UN headquarters, was used to communicate to the mass population about the ongoing scientific\u00a0research during and after the pandemic, that has already drawn the attention of remote areas of\u00a0nation and worldwide as well. India developed vaccines and distributed them in a transparent and\u00a0evidence-based manner with necessary data shared publicly to ensure trust in the vaccines.\u201d, said\u00a0Nachiket\u00a0Joshi.<\/p>\n

Apart\u00a0from\u00a0the\u00a0speech,\u00a0while\u00a0interacting\u00a0with\u00a0delegates\u00a0representing\u00a0different\u00a0countries\u00a0&\u00a0organisations, Mr. Joshi shared success story of India\u2019s Vaccination programme under the leadership\u00a0of honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He mentioned that it is one of the most successful\u00a0campaigns\u00a0and\u00a0has\u00a0garnered\u00a0world\u00a0attention.\u00a0The\u00a0government\u00a0started\u00a0providing\u00a0the\u00a0vaccines\u00a0from\u00a020 January 2021. As of January 2023, India has helped almost 150 nations with the Covid vaccine.\u00a0India had delivered around 282 million vaccine doses so far worldwide and within India, 2.2 billion\u00a0doses have\u00a0been\u00a0given\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0people\u00a0of India.<\/p>\n
