New Delhi [India] November 5: <\/strong>At the recently concluded, Trafficinfratech Expo along with\u00a0Smart Mobility<\/strong>\u00a0Conference 2024<\/strong>\u00a0(October 22-24), Pragati Maidan \u00a0 New Delhi, the concept of responsible mobility \u00a0got \u00a0 \u00a0reinforced \u00a0through showcasing of \u00a0cutting edge solutions for Smart and Safe Mobility. \u00a0The Conference sessions included India\u00a0Mobility: Green to Greener, Vision Zero \u2013 Targeting Road Safety and Future of ITS in India.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Addressing the exhibitors and visitors at the Expo,\u00a0Hon\u2019ble Minister Shri Nitin<\/strong>\u00a0Gadkari,<\/strong>\u00a0Minister for Road Transport & Highways, shared his visionary insights into the future of Mobility in India and highlighted how emerging technologies shape the nation\u2019s road infrastructure, enhancing transport safety, efficiency, and sustainability<\/p>\n

The October 23, \u00a0 session on\u00a0 \u201c Setting the Vision for Future- Ready ITS in India\u00a0<\/strong>at \u00a0Smart Mobility India Conference, organised by ITS India in collaboration with TrafficInfraTech,<\/strong>\u00a0began with a Welcome\u00a0<\/strong>Address by\u00a0Akhilesh Srivastava<\/strong><\/a>, President of ITS India Forum, who outlined India\u2019s ambitions to become a global leader in ITS.\u00a0Prof. K.K. Aggarwal<\/strong>, President of South Asian University (SAU), established by SAARC nations, delivered the\u00a0Special Guest of Honour Address<\/strong>, emphasizing the role of intelligent technologies in revolutionizing transportation systems across SAARC countries. He encouraged collaboration between India and its neighboring nations to advance ITS research and education.\u00a0Akio Yamamoto<\/strong>, Secretary General \u2013 ITS Asia Pacific,\u00a0Takehiko Barada<\/strong>, President ITS Japan,\u00a0B N Puri<\/strong>, Director AITD,\u00a0Mythili Menon<\/strong>, Project Officer, ITU Geneva,\u00a0R. Shakya<\/strong>, Addl. Director General, DoT,\u00a0Sunil<\/strong>, President IETE graced the occasion with insights into ITS.<\/p>\n

To further this goal, a\u00a0Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)<\/strong>\u00a0was signed between\u00a0ITS India Forum<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0South Asian University (SAU)<\/strong>. The MoU aims to bridge the skill gap in ITS and promote research, innovation, and sustainable transportation solutions. The agreement will foster collaboration on key initiatives, including\u00a0capacity building, joint research programs,<\/strong>\u00a0and establishing a\u00a0Centre of Excellence<\/strong>\u00a0focused on ITS.<\/p>\n

The MoU was signed by\u00a0Dr. Shiv Kumar<\/strong>, Director General of ITS India Forum, and\u00a0Professor Pooran Chandra Pandey<\/strong>, Director of the Centre of Excellence on Climate Change, Green Transition, and Sustainability at SAU. Both parties stressed the transformative potential of ITS in addressing traffic congestion and enabling environmentally sustainable urban mobility.<\/p>\n

Another milestone was achieved by signing a MoU between the\u00a0ITS India Forum<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Geospatial World\u00a0<\/strong>at their Noida office on 22 October 2024. This collaboration focuses on leveraging\u00a0geospatial technologies<\/strong>\u00a0to improve transportation efficiency and sustainability across India. The MoU was signed by Mr Sanjay Kumar, CEO, Geospatial World and Mr Akhilesh Srivastava, President, ITS India Forum.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0technical sessions<\/strong>\u00a0provided valuable insights into ITS advancements:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS)<\/strong>: Clarissa from iOmniscient \u00a0 \u00a0(Australia) presented innovative AI-based optimization solutions.\u00a0Harsh Nisar<\/strong>\u00a0from NHAI addressed challenges in scaling ATMS to meet India\u2019s increasing demand for traffic management.<\/p>\n

2.Intelligent Camera Systems<\/strong>: Industry leaders, including\u00a0Prashant Oberai<\/strong>\u00a0(Norden),\u00a0Sanjeev Sehgal<\/strong>\u00a0(Sparsh), and\u00a0Dr. Jayant Ratti<\/strong>\u00a0(Nayan Technologies), demonstrated the critical role of AI-powered cameras in enhancing urban mobility and safety.<\/p>\n

3.GNSS: Future of Tolling<\/strong>: Chaired by\u00a0Akhilesh Srivastava<\/strong>, this session had global leaders such as\u00a0Akash Sinha, Peter Kozej<\/strong>\u00a0(SkyToll), and\u00a0Anshuman Roy<\/strong>\u00a0(Rosematra) discussing satellite-based tolling systems.\u00a0Ashish Bhutani<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Shreedhar<\/strong>\u00a0provided insights into High-Speed Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) technologies.<\/p>\n

4.Urban Mobility Solutions<\/strong>: Focused on tackling urban congestion, this session featured presentations by\u00a0Rajesh Krishnan<\/strong>\u00a0(ITSPE) and\u00a0Aditya Thapliyal<\/strong>\u00a0(Idea Forge Technology) on emerging solutions for Indian cities.\u00a0Fabian Seelinger<\/strong>, Yunex Traffic exposed to Singapore Smart Traffic Management.<\/p>\n

5.Multimodal Transport & Logistics<\/strong>: Case studies presented by\u00a0Jehaan Kotwal<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Navdeep of Envoys<\/strong>\u00a0showcased how advanced technologies are transforming logistics and supply chain management.<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0Green Corridors for Ambulances<\/strong>: In a cutting-edge demonstration,\u00a0Rituraj Srivastava,<\/strong>\u00a0Chief Strategy Officer of Danlaw Technologies, highlighted how\u00a0CV2X technology<\/strong>\u00a0creates green corridors for ambulances, improving emergency response times in Bengaluru.<\/p>\n

The conference set a strong vision for India\u2019s future in ITS.\u00a0I<\/a>n his address,\u00a0Akhilesh Srivastava<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0stressed the ITS India Forum\u2019s commitment to addressing the critical challenges of safety, affordability, sustainability, and urban congestion.<\/p>\n

Dr. Pooran Chandra Pandey<\/strong>\u00a0elaborated that the collaboration will soon enter its execution phase, creating avenues for higher education programs and industry-driven research.<\/p>\n

South Asian University<\/strong>\u00a0(SAU) is an international university established in 2010 under the auspices of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). Jointly funded and governed by the eight SAARC member states \u2013 Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.\u00a0SAU<\/strong>\u00a0aims to foster regional cooperation and enhance South Asia\u2019s academic and research capacity.
