New Delhi [India], September 13: <\/b>Aizawl finally has a seat on India\u2019s railway map. <\/span>PM Modi\u2019s \u20b99,000 crore infrastructure blitz<\/b> in Mizoram is more than ribbon-cutting; it\u2019s a reset for the North East. It\u2019s a reality check for every politician who thought the North East could be ignored because it didn\u2019t deliver \u201cenough seats.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Mizoram steps onto the fast track.<\/b><\/h3>\n

Aizawl railway line inauguration is not just another government project. It\u2019s a historic move that drags Mizoram from isolation into India\u2019s mainstream logistics network. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, grounded by bad weather in Lengpui but undeterred, dialled in via video to lay foundations and dedicate projects worth over \u20b99,000 crore across rail, roads, energy, education, and sports.<\/span><\/p>\n

The big headline: the <\/span>Bairabi\u2013Sairang railway line<\/b>. Built through brutal terrain with <\/span>45 tunnels, 55 major bridges, and 88 minor ones<\/b>, this \u20b98,070 crore lifeline now links Mizoram\u2019s capital directly to the rest of India\u2019s rail grid. For the first time, <\/span>Delhi to Aizawl via Rajdhani Express<\/b> is a reality, not rhetoric.<\/span><\/p>\n

Railways: From dream to deadline<\/b><\/h3>\n

PM Modi reminded the crowd that he had laid the foundation years ago. This week, the trains are running. Alongside the Rajdhani, two more express trains, the Sairang\u2013Guwahati and the Sairang\u2013Kolkata, were flagged off.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The symbolism isn\u2019t subtle. Farmers in Mizoram can now send their ginger, turmeric, and bananas faster to markets. Students get easier routes to universities in Delhi or Kolkata. Patients can reach top hospitals without multi-day road ordeals.<\/span><\/p>\n

Railways here are more than transport. They are a transformation!<\/span><\/p>\n

Roads, bridges, and bypasses<\/b><\/h3>\n

The Prime Minister didn\u2019t stop with rail. Road infrastructure got its own boost.<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Aizawl Bypass Road<\/b> (\u20b9500 crore, 45 km): Expected to cut south-to-capital travel time by 90 minutes.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Thenzawl\u2013Sialsuk Road<\/b>: A gift for horticulture farmers, dragon fruit growers, and paddy cultivators.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Khankawn\u2013Rongura Road<\/b>: Strengthening market access in Serchhip district.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Chhimtuipui River Bridge<\/b>: A two-hour travel reducer and a cross-border trade booster under the Kaladan Multimodal project.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    For a hilly state where connectivity is destiny, these roads mean more trucks, more trade, and fewer excuses.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Energy, education, and sports get their slice.<\/b><\/h3>\n

    Infrastructure isn\u2019t just steel and concrete. PM Modi laid the foundation for a <\/span>30 TMTPA LPG bottling plant<\/b> at Mualkhang. That\u2019s code for steady cooking gas and local jobs.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Schools got their due:<\/span><\/p>\n

    • A new <\/span>Residential School at Kawrthah<\/b> under PMJVK, complete with turf football grounds, to benefit 10,000 kids.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • An <\/span>Eklavya Model School at Tlangnuam<\/b>, pushing tribal youth into mainstream education pipelines.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Sports? Mizoram\u2019s football legacy is famous, and the new <\/span>Khelo India Multipurpose Indoor Hall<\/b> in Tuikual is designed to turn potential into podium finishes.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Mizoram and the Act East Policy<\/b><\/h3>\n

      Connectivity isn\u2019t just for show. Mizoram now sits at the heart of India\u2019s <\/span>Act East Policy<\/b> and the <\/span>North East Economic Corridor<\/b>. With the <\/span>Kaladan Multi-Modal project<\/b> and the upcoming <\/span>Sairang\u2013Hmawngbuchhuah rail line<\/b>, the state will connect India\u2019s railways to the Bay of Bengal and beyond to Southeast Asia.<\/span><\/p>\n

      For India\u2019s Look East diplomacy, Mizoram is no longer a footnote. It\u2019s the frontier.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

      GST relief and everyday economics<\/b><\/h3>\n

      PM Modi didn\u2019t miss the chance to pitch his <\/span>NextGen GST<\/b> reforms. He reminded the audience that, before 2014, even toothpaste, soap, and oil were taxed at a rate of 27%. Today, most daily-use goods are at 5%.<\/span><\/p>\n

      New GST rates slash costs for families and make essentials like cancer medicines, cement, and even hotel stays cheaper; the message: not just mega-projects, but pocket-level relief. And yes, scooter and car prices are already falling, just in time for festive season shopping sprees.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Growth engine narrative<\/b><\/h3>\n

      The Prime Minister stressed a bigger arc: the <\/span>North East as India\u2019s growth engine<\/b>. Once sidelined by vote-bank politics, the region now hosts 4,500 start-ups, 25 incubators, and an expanding sports economy.<\/span><\/p>\n

      For Mizoram, it\u2019s a pivot from neglected borderland to investment hotspot.<\/span><\/p>\n

      India flexes global muscle.<\/b><\/h3>\n

      PM Modi reminded citizens that while infrastructure connects people, strong growth funds defence. At 7.8% GDP growth, India is the fastest-growing major economy. Operation Sindoor, where Indian soldiers humbled terror sponsors with <\/span>Made-in-India weapons<\/b>, is proof that factories and foundries are as critical as fighter jets.<\/span><\/p>\n
