Zscaler Strengthens Cybersecurity with the Inauguration of Cyber Wellness Clinic at Panjab University

Posted on March 7, 2025 By

Chandigarh [India], March 7: The CopConnect Cyber Wellness Clinic at Panjab University has been officially inaugurated, marking a significant milestone in cybersecurity education and victim support. Held at Panjab University’s South Campus, Sector-25, Chandigarh, this initiative is designed to provide critical cyber first aid, education, and assistance to victims of cybercrime.

Among the key partners leading this effort is Zscaler, a global cybersecurity leader specializing in zero-trust architecture. By extending its expertise beyond corporate enterprises to educational institutions, Zscaler is empowering students and faculty with the knowledge and tools to combat cyber threats effectively.

Zscaler’s Role in Cybersecurity Empowerment

Zscaler has been at the forefront of cloud-based cybersecurity, ensuring secure digital transformation for enterprises worldwide. Through this collaboration, the company is expanding its reach to foster cyber resilience at the academic level.

“The launch of the Cyber Wellness Clinic aligns with our mission to create a safe digital ecosystem,” said Ms Karishma Bhuyan, who leads social impact initiatives at Zscaler. “One of the key objectives of this clinic is to provide cybercrime first aid—the first few minutes after a cyber fraud incident are crucial. Our goal is to ensure victims receive immediate support and guidance, empowering them to take appropriate action.”

As part of this initiative,125 faculty members and students have been trained as Cyber Crime First Responders (CCFRs)at Panjab University. These responders will provide first aid for cybercrime incidents, ensuring quick intervention and guidance.

A Comprehensive Approach to Cyber Wellness

The Cyber Wellness Clinic functions as a dedicated center for cybersecurity support, addressing multiple aspects of digital safety, including:

  • Cybercrime Victim Assistance:The clinic provides immediate support to victims, offering guidance on the next steps to mitigate risks.
  • Cyber Crime First Responders: Trained individuals across the campus assist in addressing cyber fraud incidents.
  • Hacked or Not Kiosk: A kiosk that helps users detect potential spyware or suspicious applications on their devices.
  • Cyber Helpline Support: Victims are encouraged to call 1930 and report incidents through the NCRP portal for official police intervention.
  • Workshops and Awareness Programs: Regular cybersecurity training sessions will be conducted to help students and faculty recognize and avoid cyber threats.

A Growing National Cybersecurity Initiative

The Cyber Wellness Clinic atPanjab Universityis part of a broader cybersecurity movement that started inBengaluru in May 2024. Since then, similar clinics have been launched inMysuru, Mangaluru, Delhi, and Chandigarh, withplans underway to establish another center at NITTTR Chandigarh.

“The Cyber Wellness Clinic is not just a space—it’s a movement,” added Ms. Bhuyan. “We are building a community of cyber warriors who will safeguard their digital environments and educate others on best practices.”

Zscaler: Leading the Future of Cybersecurity

Founded in 2007 by Jay Chaudhry, Zscaler has transformed cybersecurity with its cloud-native Zero Trust Exchange platform. The company, headquartered in San Jose, California, is NASDAQ-listed and recognized as a global leader in secure digital transformation.

With a strong presence in India, Zscaler operates offices in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Mohali, and Pune. The company employs nearly 3,000 professionals in the region and operates seven data centres, securing over five million users across 400 organisations in India.

Shaping the Next Generation of Cybersecurity Leaders

As cyber threats become increasingly sophisticated, proactive initiatives like the Cyber Wellness Clinic play an essential role in fostering digital awareness, victim support, and security education. By collaborating with academic institutions, Zscaler is not only spreading cybersecurity awareness but also shaping future digital security professionals.

With Panjab University now actively involved in this cybersecurity movement, students, faculty, and law enforcement experts stand together in creating a safe and resilient digital future for all.
