Choosing the Right University in the Final Admission Window: What Students & Parents Should Evaluate Beyond Fees

Posted on July 23, 2026 By

Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Kumar Patnaik, Vice Chancellor, Medicaps University, Indore

Indore (Madhya Pradesh) [India], July 23: As the period for university admission reaches its concluding stage, students and parents often select an institution while they have limited time. While the cost of tuition is a factor that people consider, it is not the only element that should lead this process. A university is a place that determines the academic path, the practical experience and the general growth of a student. By evaluating the entire situation, families are able to make decisions that are based on more information.

Q1. What should students and parents prioritise during the final phase of admissions?

Students and parents should prioritise academic quality, experienced faculty, industry exposure, placement support, infrastructure, and the overall learning environment. They should also evaluate how well the university prepares students through practical learning, skill development, and industry engagement to support long-term academic and professional growth.

Q2. Why is learning through practice as significant as learning in a classroom?

In the current environment, education is not limited to books. By participating in internships, active projects, research, meetings with industry professionals but also learning through direct experience, students see how concepts from the classroom are used in actual situations. And those activities are what improve the ability of a person to communicate, work in a group, analyze data and solve problems.

Q3. How do social programs assist the education of a student?

For many students, participating in community service is an opportunity to learn. Medicaps University has recently partnered with the Government of Madhya Pradesh under the Social Internship Program (SIP). Through this initiative, Medicaps’ students will conduct social internships in government schools, benefiting nearly 1–2 lakh school students every year by teaching Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Safety, Mathematics, English Communication, Financial Literacy, Hygiene, Digital Awareness, and other essential life skills. The programme enables students to gain meaningful field experience while contributing to education at the grassroots level.

Q4. What is the importance of employment outcomes and professional experience when a person evaluates a university?

A person should view data about job placements in connection with the assistance that students get during their years of study. On that account universities provide lessons for aptitude tests, practice sessions for interviews plus schemes for the growth of skills. To assist students as they prepare for the hiring process, universities also offer internships and frequent meetings with experts from various fields. If a student compares different universities, they should look at the variety of companies that hire graduates, the available intern positions but also formal agreements with businesses.

Q5. Which signs show that a university is strong?

As a university demonstrates its strength, it shows regular results in academics, active participation with companies and chances for students to perform research. In addition projects with international partners as well as the things that students achieve are important signs. At Medicaps University, the highest salary for a job placement is ₹52 LPA and the  average salary is ₹6.5 LPA. By hosting companies for more than 2,500 visits, the university has enabled more than 15,500 offers for jobs. There are also more than 50 partnerships with major universities across the world which exist so that students can study abroad or gain international experience.

Q6. What do you want to say to students and parents before the period for admission ends?

Choosing a university is a process that requires a person to think with care. Instead of looking at factors that are only relevant right now, it is better to see how the Universities provide learning along with ways for students to gain hands-on experience. It is also useful to see how the university connects with industries and helps a student grow.

Conclusion

As admissions draw to a close, students and parents should focus on evaluating universities based on academic quality, practical learning opportunities, industry engagement, and long-term outcomes rather than a single parameter. An informed decision today can have a lasting impact on a student’s future. With its 26-year legacy of academic excellence, comprehensive learning ecosystem, and strong industry connect, Medicaps University continues to be recognised as one of Indore’s top universities, offering students an environment that supports both academic excellence and professional growth.
