Fredna Dental Systems Surges from ₹4.82 Cr to ₹87.21 Cr, Powering India’s Digital Dentistry Revolution

Posted on August 6, 2026 By Anjali Chatterjee

New Delhi [India], August 6: For decades, going to the dentist in India meant a very predictable, often dreaded experience: a small local clinic, a single reclining chair, and the sharp hum of the drill. Oral care was largely viewed as an act of damage control – something you only thought about when a toothache became too painful to ignore.

Today, that entire script is being rewritten. India’s dental care market is undergoing a massive shift, jumping from more than ₹5200 crores (653 million USD) in 2022 to a mind boggling ₹1,12,000 crore (≈ 1.34 billion USD) by 2030. This boom is likely to be fuelled by a rapidly aging population requiring advanced treatments and a massive wave of global dental tourism, with international patients traveling to India to save 70% to 90% on world-class clinical care, as per recent study. At the absolute centre of this transformation is a home-grown pioneer: Fredna Dental Systems (FDS) – the group company of Fredun Pharmaceuticals Ltd (FPL).

Solving the “Guesswork” Problem in Care

The traditional challenge in advanced dentistry, like placing a dental implant, was the reliance on manual craftsmanship and a doctor’s physical intuition. A dentist would look at a flat, two-dimensional X-ray and have to estimate the depth and angle of a patient’s jawbone.

FDS changed the game by building a digital ‘flywheel’ – a connected ecosystem where technology takes over the heavy lifting. It begins at one of their advanced DentX3D imaging centres in Mumbai, where a patient gets a high-resolution, 3D jaw scan. Instead of the doctor guessing, this data-rich scan is uploaded to a cloud and report is made. Apart from their own centres, they provide accurate reporting to other CBCT centres as well through their platform called DentXReporting. Here, expert radiologists analyse the image remotely, providing deep diagnostic insights to over 40 partner centres across India and even in markets like North America and Europe.

Once the digital blueprint of the patient’s mouth is mapped, FDS’s manufacturing wing, DentXGuide, uses 3D printing to create a physical “surgical guide”. This is a custom-fitted template that snaps onto a patient’s teeth during surgery, featuring a precise channel that guides the dentist’s drill down to a fraction of a millimetre. The guesswork is completely gone.

Modern Care for a New Generation

Beyond high-end surgeries, FDS is tackling the everyday treatments that modern patients demand. India’s clear aligner market is currently exploding at a 23% annual growth rate, driven by a younger generation of patients who want straight teeth without the look of metal braces. While many new companies sell aligners directly to consumers online, FDS launched ‘Xalign’, a system that keeps local dentists strictly in charge of the treatment. This approach ensures actual medical supervision while avoiding the massive marketing costs of internet-only brands.

Furthermore, FDS has bridged the gap into advanced biochemistry with its ‘Freossi’ line of bone-grafting materials. When a patient doesn’t have enough natural jawbone to support an implant, dentists use Freossi’s patented collagen-infused granules to safely stimulate new bone growth. Because these materials are manufactured in-house through FPL, the company maintains total quality control and keeps costs affordable for the average Indian consumer.

To make it even easier for local neighbourhood clinics to adopt these futuristic tools, FDS introduced an all-in-one ‘Implant Package’. Instead of a clinic spending a fortune on expensive machinery, FDS bundles the 3D scan, the custom 3D-printed guide, the physical implant, and even sends a trained clinical assistant directly to the doctor’s office to help with the procedure. It completely lowers the barrier to entry, allowing local family dentists to offer cutting-edge hospital care.

Turning Scale into Smiles

This comprehensive approach has allowed FDS to cross from an early infrastructure-building phase into a high-speed business scaling phase. The company’s total income has grown from 4.82 Cr FY 22-23to a remarkable 87.21 Cr FY 25-26, with profit margins more than doubling in that same window.

With the foundations firmly laid in Mumbai, FDS is now preparing to replicate this playbook across Tier-1 hubs like Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Delhi-NCR. Reflecting on this growth, the company’s management shares a vision rooted in both human and financial impact:

“Our journey over the past decade has been about proving that world-class, digital dentistry shouldn’t just be a luxury for elite hospitals. By turning subjective clinical dental work into a predictable, data-driven science, we are making complex treatments safer, faster, and far more accessible. When you seamlessly connect the entire loop of patient care, from the very first diagnostic scan to the routine follow-up care, you build an incredibly resilient business. Ultimately, our goal is to align our operational progress in a way that brings a confident, healthy smile to both our patients’ faces and our shareholders’ portfolios,” says Fredun Medhora of FDS.
